STELCO officially takes over utility services of all islands in Meemu atoll from Fenaka

Fenaka Corporation has officially handed over utility services of all islands in Meemu atoll to STELCO. On June 21, 2026, STELCO formally took over services of Dhiggaru, Kolhufushi, Maduvvari, Muli, Naalaafushi, Raiymandhoo and Veyvah. STELCO Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar signed the agreement on behalf of STELCO, while Fenaka was represented by Managing Director Mohamed Afeef Hussain. The transfer is part of the government’s efforts to improve public service delivery in the islands. The Ministry of Finance has already transferred utility services in Baa and Lhaviyani atolls from Fenaka to STELCO under the same restructuring initiative. STELCO currently provides utility services in the Greater Male' Region, as well as several islands in Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaalu and Vaavu atolls.

Bank of Maldives Expands Presence in Maamigili with New Branch Development

Bank of Maldives (BML) broke ground on a new branch in Maamigili, Alif Dhaalu Atoll, attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Cabinet Ministers, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO Mohamed Shareef, and other officials. CEO Shareef highlighted enhanced access to banking in a tourism-rich region. BML operates 42 branches across all 20 atolls, with 190 self-service banking centres, 248 ATMs, and agent banking. BML already has a branch in Mahibadhoo.
