MP Saleem Accuses Judges and Police of Collusion With Criminals
During a parliamentary session debating a bail amendment bill, MP Ahmed Saleem of Baa Eydhafushi accused judges and police of colluding with criminals, stating that drug smugglers and thieves are not convicted due to loopholes. Saleem claimed that judges collaborate with police to protect perpetrators, and that children as young as 13 are involved in crime. He also said higher-level drug smugglers are protected by lower-level criminals. Saleem is a member of the ruling PNC and runs the Redwave shopping chain.
