President Muizzu Inspects Progress of Boduthakurufaanu Magu Redevelopment Project

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu inspected the ongoing redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, a key infrastructure project between Henveiru Ferry Terminal and the Local Market. He visited the northern section near the MMA area with Minister of Construction Dr Abdulla Muththalib and MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee. All sheet piling and installation works are complete, with 82% of land reclamation finished. The project includes dual carriageways, partial sea reclamation, road widening, and underground infrastructure. Announced earlier this year during the inauguration of renovated Izzuddin Jetty, the project was contracted to MTCC on April 9, 2025. President Muizzu pledged the road will be completed and inaugurated by end of year.

Tragic Collision in Malé Claims Life of Singer’s Only Son; Two Others Seriously Injured

A fatal accident on Boduthakurufaanu Magu near Maafannu Bus Terminal on Sunday night killed 17-year-old Yoosuf Alsan Mohamed, the only son of singers Mariyam Ashfa and Mohamed Abdul Ghani (Therava), and critically injured a 16-year-old boy and a 40-year-old pedestrian. The motorcycle carrying the two teenagers struck the pedestrian on a zebra crossing and then hit a pickup truck. The pedestrian is on a ventilator at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, while the 16-year-old has been moved to a ward. Police are investigating. Funeral prayers are scheduled at Aasahara cemetery after Asr prayers today.

MDP Denied Injunction in Campaign Centre Takeover Case

The Civil Court dismissed the MDP's request for an interim injunction to prevent the seizure of its main campaign centre on Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
