Senior HDC official hospitalized following assault

Ismail Abdul Raheem (Isu), Deputy Director of Hulhumale' Operations at HDC, was hospitalized after an assault in Hulhumale'. Police received a report of an altercation in Farukolhufushi at 6:37 pm. Two men aged 21 and 34 sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made; investigation is ongoing. Isu was previously a person of interest in the disappearance of journalist Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla and the murder of blogger Yameen Rasheed, and has been seen alongside President Muizzu and active in PNC campaigns.

Man arrested after stabbing HDC director Ismail in Hulhumale' Phase II altercation

A man was arrested for stabbing Ismail Abdul Rahman, a director at the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), in Hulhumale' Phase II. The incident occurred at 18:37 in the reclaimed area of Farukolhufushi. Two people were injured: a 21-year-old man and a 34-year-old man. Both were treated at Hulhumale' Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old was discharged and arrested on suspicion of assault. Ismail, known as 'Isu', was previously arrested in 2022 for the murders of journalist Ahmed Rilwan and blogger Yameen Rasheed, but charges were dismissed in 2023. He was appointed HDC director in January 2024. The investigation is ongoing.

HDC launches several transformative projects for Hulhumale’

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) launched several transformative projects for Hulhumale' at the 'Transforming Tomorrow' ceremony, inaugurated by Minister Mohamed Saeed. Projects include: Rasmale' Project, Row Houses, Social Housing, Modern Prefab Homes, Farukolhufushi Gated Community, SOE office building, SME building, HDC building, Elderly Care Facility, parking building, Hulhumale' Isle Adventure Park, History Centre, Knowledge Park, Nooveli Island Retreat in Galufalhu, Kinaaria Destination Island in Kudagiri, Smart Warehouse Complex, and Tree Planting Project. An MoU for design consultancy of Isle Adventure Park was signed between HDC MD Fazul Rasheed and City Investments Private Limited. HDC MD stated projects will boost economic growth and improve lifestyle, aiming to triple revenue.
