Ballot box vandalism and theft: No revotes in Feeali and Fiyoaree
The main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) announced it will not hold revotes in F. Feeali and GDh. Fiyoaree after ballot box theft and vandalism during the chairperson election. The ballot box in Feeali was stolen and taken to a private residence, while the box in Fiyoaree was vandalized by an individual lacking accreditation. MDP Elections Committee chairperson Ibrahim Muizzu confirmed the decision, citing a large victory margin. Former president Mohamed Nasheed won with 21,301 votes (68.9%), defeating Meekail Ahmed Naseem (9,462 votes) and Ibrahim Mohamed (132). This is Nasheed's second term as MDP chairperson.
