Goidhoo imam under investigation over alleged explicit video

Police are investigating a case involving an imam of Goidhoo Mosque in Shaviyani Atoll who allegedly shared a sexually explicit video depicting same-sex activity in a Viber group containing many Goidhoo residents. The imam is also a hafiz and a well-known farmer. The case was reported to police on Wednesday. It is unclear whether the Islamic Ministry has taken any action.

President Muizzu Opens New BML ATMs, Bringing Modern Banking Closer to Goidhoo and Fehendhoo

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated new self-service banking ATMs on Goidhoo and Fehendhoo in Baa Atoll, part of Bank of Maldives' (BML) nationwide ATM expansion. Similar ATMs were recently installed on Kamadhoo, Kudarikilu, and Kendhoo. BML CEO Mohamed Shareef said the goal is to ensure ATM access on every inhabited island by year-end. The new ATMs allow 24/7 deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and bill payments. Goidhoo has around 583 residents, Fehendhoo about 198, both over 90 km from Malé. This is part of BML's 'Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM' initiative, which has installed ATMs in 42 new locations this year. BML operates 40 branches, 134 self-service banking centres, and 189 ATMs.

Goidhoo Community Outlines Health, Infrastructure, and Tourism Priorities in Meeting with President Muizzu

Over 1,800 banana saplings distributed under ‘Faiykeyo’ programme

Over 1,800 banana saplings were distributed to 11 islands under the 'Faiykeyo' programme. The initiative aims to increase banana production by 50% by end of 2028 and reduce imports by 25%. The first phase distributed saplings and fertiliser to Women's Development Committees.
