24-Year-Old Dies in Motorbike Crash on Addu’s Hankede Bridge
A 24-year-old man, Leevan Abdul Sattar, died Wednesday morning after crashing his motorbike on the Hankede Bridge in Addu City. The accident occurred at about 9:49 AM. He was reportedly speeding from Maradhoo to Hithadhoo and lost control, crashing into the bridge fence. Police are investigating. Days earlier, an 18-year-old from Addu was critically injured in a motorbike crash while practicing for a racing tournament and is on life support at Addu Equatorial Hospital. The hospital reported 277 road accidents last year and 27 in the past month, stressing the need for road safety. The Hankede Bridge is a newly opened public transport route.
