Motorcyclist injured in collision with oil bowser in Hulhumalé

On 29 May 2026, a 30-year-old Maldivian man sustained injuries when his motorcycle collided with an oil bowser on Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumalé. Police closed a section of the road and the victim was taken to Hulhumalé Hospital. As of early June, no update on his condition has been provided.

Maldives: Deputy Speaker resigns, launch crash hurts captain

Ahmed Nazim resigned as Deputy Speaker of the People's Majlis on May 31, 2026, shortly before a no-confidence motion by the ruling PNC was to be debated. The following day, two launches collided just outside Male', seriously injuring the captain; the other vessel fled. Police are investigating the collision.
