Two Killed in Gas Cylinder Explosion in Makunudhoo
A gas cylinder explosion on Makunudhoo Island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll killed two Indian nationals on Saturday. The deceased were Mohammad Raja Ansari, 27, and Sudhira Sethy, 25, both employees of Bison Maldives Private Limited, a subcontractor for a land reclamation and coastal protection project. The blast occurred near the fish market, causing extensive damage with body parts scattered over 200 feet. The Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defence Force are investigating.
