Maldives: Deputy Speaker resigns, launch crash hurts captain

Ahmed Nazim resigned as Deputy Speaker of the People's Majlis on May 31, 2026, shortly before a no-confidence motion by the ruling PNC was to be debated. The following day, two launches collided just outside Male', seriously injuring the captain; the other vessel fled. Police are investigating the collision.
